CLYDE, TX- The Clyde Bulldogs have found their new head football coach.
Clyde has hired Danny Dudgeon who was most recently the offensive coordinator at Abilene Cooper. Dudgeon was at Cooper for six seasons and was their OC the last 4.
Under Dudgeon, the Cougars averaged 47.6 points per game for the 2020 season and 39.4 points per game the previous year.
Dudgeon grew up in Throckmorton, moved to Abilene, and played at Abilene High. He also graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood so the Big Country means a lot to Dudgeon.
Dudgeon said:
“It’s been a goal since I got into the profession. It means a whole lot. It’s not easy to process and obviously there’s a lot of people who want to be able to say they’ve accomplished that goal. But at the same time, my wife and I were extremely selective on where we were willing to look. We wanted to find a place that’d be the right fit for us and our family. So that kind of slowed the process a little more than maybe it should have.”
Danny Dudgeon takes over for Scott Campbell who was 14-18 in 3 seasons with the Bulldogs. Clyde finished with a 4-7 overall record but went 3-2 in district play in 2020.
The Wall Hawks will get to see the new look Clyde Bulldogs as they play in the same district.
