SAN ANGELO, TX – State Representative Drew Darby has issued another update on the State's efforts to ease the damage inflicted on residents by the historic snowstorm.
Here is Rep. Darby's latest information:
First, I want to highlight two critical pieces of the update:
1. Per Governor Abbott, the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC), the agency that has direct authority over ERCOT, met in an emergency meeting today and issued a moratorium on customer disconnections for non-payment and will temporarily restrict providers from issuing invoices. The PUC has taken this step in order to give the state more time to address skyrocketing bills.
2. The Texas Division of Emergency Management has launched a survey for individuals, homeowners, and businesses to complete who have damage related to the winter weather. If you have experienced any damage, please complete this survey. The survey will help measure the storm impact and help communities qualify for individual assistance from the federal government. You can find the survey here. Please share this survey your friends and family. UPDATE: Photos of damage are required for the survey.
The remaining updates are:
3. The state has deployed trucks and aircraft to deliver water to communities. 162 trucks have delivered a total of 2 million bottles of water and 1.4 million bottles of water have been delivered by plane and helicopter.
4. Per the TCEQ, as of 48 hours ago, Texas had about 14.9 million Texans on a boil water notice. About five million Texans have come off the boil water notices during that time. Please continue to check with your local entities on boil water notices.
5. The state has also suspended size, weight, and hours-of-service requirements to get more commercial trucks on the road to deliver supplies across the state.
