Abilene: One Water Treatment Plan Back Online

ABILENE, TX – The City of Abilene has confirmed at least one of the water treatment plants has had the power restored.

In a press conference, City Manager Robert Hanna confirmed the power was restored to the northeast facility around 11:15 p.m. last night and began "pushing water into town" around 4:15 a.m. today.

But even with the water restoring to certain areas, the city is urging people not to open their faucets so the system has time to recharge.

When the water is available, citizens are advised to not consume the water. This includes drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth without boiling the water for two minutes.

The city confirmed crews are working to restore service to most of the city by end of the day.
