TxDOT: Travel With Caution As Road Conditions Can Be Hazardous

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- According to the National Weather Service, areas of San Angelo received to up 9 inches of snow on Sunday, but the hazardous weather outlook continues.

According to the NWS, even though the snowfall has ended the driving conditions remain dangerous on snow-packed roads.

Travel is very hazardous and cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

According to TxDOT, the conditions on US 87, FM 2288, FM 2105, US 67, and FM 2335 are described as icy, and travel is discouraged due to black ice. Extreme caution is urged on all bridges and roadways.

Travel on SH 208 and US 277 is highly discouraged as conditions are rapidly deteriorating. There is currently ice and snow present. Blowing snow is creating poor visibility. The road conditions warnings are in effect until at least 5:00 p.m. Monday.

San Angelo neighborhood streets remain covered with ice and snow and likely will be through Tuesday. Avoid driving if you don’t have to.
