Fire Alarm Evacuates Lincoln Middle School

Students and teachers at Lincoln Middle School, 255 E 50th Street, were evacuated from the school shortly before 11:30 a.m. after a mandatory evacuation due to a fire alarm

Two fire engines, a ladder truck, and fire rescue responded. Upon arrival, firefighters did not find an active fire in the building, but they did discover a troublesome air conditioning unit. With the weather hot and cold this December, the unit may have been stressed from switching between heating and cooling.

The HVAC motor unit is being evaluated before they open the school to all students. By noon, some students are being let back in, and the fire department expects everything to be cleared soon so that classes can resume.
