A motorcycle driver was rushed to the hospital after a crash with a Ford F-250 in front of the Walmart at the 5500 block of Sherwood Way at approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The motorcycle driver appeared conscious as they loaded him into an ambulance.
The type and make of the motorcycle is not confirmed, but it appears to be a 2005 Honda. The bumper of the Ford was still attached to the motorcycle.
Traffic is stalled in all directions on Sherwood Way, including traffic coming out of the parking lot.
We will update this story when more information is available.
Update 1:15 p.m.
Officer Ed Hunger of the San Angelo Police Department Traffic Division was the investigator of this crash. He said that the motorcycle was headed east in the inside lane passing through the 5500 block of Sherwood Way. At the same time, the Ford F-250 was attempting to turn west (left) from the Walmart entrance between Wendy’s and Chick-Fil-A.
Hunger said that the driver told him that he did not see the motorcycle and ran into it. The force of the impact pushed the motorcycle and it’s driver approximately 10 feet, across a lane of traffic. Hunger said that the F-250 was not traveling at a high rate of speed, which minimized the force of the impact.
The motorcyclist was sent to Shannon via ambulance with unknown injuries. However, we saw that the motorcyclist was conscious as he was loaded into the ambulance.
Hunger cited the driver of the F-250 for failure to yield right-of-way from a private drive. Hunger confirmed that the bike was a 2005 Honda.
