ABILENE, TX -- After going on an extensive drunk driving spree, 27-year-old Christopher Bateman was arrested by Abilene Police officers.
According to APD, Bateman was intoxicated while he allegedly hit cars and damaged property.
According to witnesses, Bateman appeared to be traveling at least 60 mph when he struck a mailbox and kept going.
"He swerved off hit our curb and just missed my car that was parked in the driveway," said Mike Andino.
The tire marks left by Bateman led to a carport across the street. In his drunken stupor, he grazed it and caused damage.
Bateman then ran into a truck in a nearby driveway and a parked car on the opposite side of the street. According to witnesses, the truck sustained severe damage.
The intoxicated driver initially fled the scene and was later apprehended.
Bateman was charged with a DWI and possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Taylor County Jail and his bond has been set at $6,000.
