Deputy Arrested After Kicking Woman In The Face

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A Bexar County Sheriff Deputy has been arrested for assaulting a woman for the second time this year.

According to the sheriff's office, back in February, 30-year-old  John Paul Garza was arrested while off-duty after he allegedly abused a woman.

The victim called the police after going to the hospital and said Garza may have been drinking when he physically abused her.

Garza's arrest prompted the department to place the patrol deputy on administrative leave.

On Monday, Garza once again attacked the woman.

According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, Garza knocked the woman to the ground and kicked her in the face. The woman was covered in blood after the attack.

The deputy then allegedly forced the woman to take off her clothes to clean up the blood evidence.

The woman was able to run to a neighbors house and call the police. Garza fled the scene but was later arrested.

But this isn't the first time Garza has been in trouble since joining the agency in 2012.

In 2013, Garza was suspended for inappropriate force on an inmate and lied on a polygraph test.

According to Sheriff Salazar, the sheriff's office has been trying to move forward with the deputy's termination.

"Seems like somebody that should never have been working here in the first place,” said Salazar.

Salazar is also recommending the deputy have GPS tracking if he is released from jail.

“He doesn’t seem to care,” said. “Unfortunately, the situation being that it was the same victim in February, and it appears they were in the process of reconciling, unfortunately, that’s something that we see with domestic violence victims.”
