Food Network Star Holds Casting on Saturday

Calling all chefs: The Food Network on Saturday is hosting an open call for applicants interested in becoming the next Food Network Star in the show’s 11th season.

Chefs and cooks from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience are invited to attend the casting call on Nov. 8 in Austin, where they’ll meet representatives of the Food Network and introduce themselves as chefs. No food preparation will be required at the casting.

Casting Assistant Gabrielle Goldstein explained that applicants will be seen on a first come, first served basis, and will introduce themselves to the Food Network Star team, explain their passion for food, their motivation for the show and ideas they may have.

“They’ll be asked a few questions,” Goldstein said. “It sort of depends on how the conversation goes. Basically, they’ll inform the representatives of what their point of view is as a chef, what some of their experiences are…”

As to what the panel is looking for, Goldstein didn’t nail down anything specific, but did say they want “fresh faces, lots of talent; we’re looking for people who have the chops cooking-wise and the personality to appear on TV.”

Food Network Star is a competition-based cooking show in which 12 chefs square off against one another for the opportunity of hosting their own cooking show on the network.[[{"fid":"8877","view_mode":"default","fields":{"format":"default"},"type":"media","attributes":{}}]]
