Covid Forfeit Elevates Christoval Cougars to Bi-District Champs

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Christoval Cougars are now Bi-District champions after a Coronavirus outbreak forced Burton to cancel the game this Thursday.

According to Burton ISD, on Nov. 9, "Out of the abundance of caution, Burton ISD will be closed tomorrow November 10, 2020 due to COVID-19 exposures. We will send out more information tomorrow. The football game scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2020 has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. The basketball game scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, 2020 has been cancelled. Thank you for your patience and support from Burton ISD."

Due to Burton forfeiting the game, the Christoval Cougars are now the class 2A division II Region 4 Bi-District Champions.

Bruni and Runge are scheduled to play Friday. The winner of that game will take on Christoval a week from Friday. Bruni is outside of Laredo and Runge is between Victoria and San Antonio.

This is the third consecutive Bi-District championship for the Cougars since they began playing 11-man football.
