Army: Vanessa Guillen Died in the Line of Duty

 

KILLEEN, TX -- After months of anguish and devastating loss, the U.S. Army has concluded that Spc. Vanessa Guillen died in the line of duty.

Vanessa's disappearance and death captured headlines over the summer as the chilling details of her murder became public.

By determining her murder as a line-of-duty death, the Guillen family will be "entitled to a variety of Army benefits for Vanessa’s service."

The benefits typically include compensation that will help cover expenses, a funeral with full military honors, the Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance, and final pay and allowances.
