SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo water utility crews are working on at least four major breaks across the city Friday evening. Water was bubbling up under the pavement on College Hills Blvd. near Ave. N. before 4 p.m.
The city's crumbling water infrastructure is now causing major issues across the city.
Here is the statement from the city Friday afternoon:
Water utilities crews are currently working on at least four water main breaks that are affecting customers throughout town. One break is located at College Hills/Oxford and another is near Mayfield Paper Company. We do not know the specific locations of the other breaks but will update as soon as possible. Crews are already working on repairing these breaks; we will provide updates as soon as we receive more information.
Residents in the affected areas may experience a loss of water pressure or an outage.
As of 9:30 p.m., the City of San Angelo issued a specific notice suggesting that City of San Angelo boil water from the tap before consuming that spans from Butler Farms to the south to Lake View in the north. If your tap water is fetched from a hydrant or faucet in the red area, you are recommended to boil it before drinking:
