The deadline for the SNAPS! citywide photography contest has been extended to Friday, Nov. 7. Coordinated by the City’s Public Art Commission, the focus of this year’s competition is the Stripes River Fest – either the 2013 or the 2014 edition.
SNAPS! is open to all photographers, amateur and professional. Entries must be submitted on a CD in a jpeg format in high resolution (300 dpi). The CDs must be labeled with the photographer’s name and the number of works. The entry fee is $10 for two images and $5 for each additional image up to a total of five photos.
The CD, entry fee and entry form must be delivered or mailed to the City of San Angelo’s Parks and Recreation Department at 702 S. Chadbourne St., San Angelo, TX 76903. Entry forms may be picked up at the Parks and Recreation offices in Santa Fe Crossing at the same address. Office hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. Checks should be made payable to the City of San Angelo – Public Art Commission. Mailed entries must be postmarked no later than Nov. 7.
The first-place winner will receive $150, second place $100 and third place $50. Merit awards will also be presented.
The seven-member volunteer Public Art Commission advises the City Council on the selection and placement of art on City-owned or -controlled property.
