SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Hispanic Heritage Committee is inviting the San Angelo community to celebrate this year’s Dia de los Muertos.
Dia de los Muertos is a 4,000-year-old holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and Hispanic communities. The holiday is a celebration of life -- when our departed loved ones are welcomed back into our homes.
Hispanic families celebrate by creating ofrendas decorated in bright yellow marigold flowers, photos of loved ones, and their favorite foods and drinks from life. It is a unique opportunity to honor both life and death, where mourning is exchanged for celebration.
During times of coronavirus, San Angelo will be celebrating with a three-day Virtual Dia de los Muertos celebration on October 29th, 30th, and 31st!
Multiple activities will be hosted throughout each day virtually via the San Angelo Hispanic Heritage Museum & Cultural Center Facebook page. Follow the page to stay up to date with event announcements.
