HOLLYWOOD — The Naked Gun reboot has dropped a brand-new trailer online.
Even though Naked Gun star Leslie Nielsen has passed away, The Naked Gun lives on through his on-screen son, Liam Neeson, as seen in a new trailer that has a lot of throwbacks to the originals.
The official synopsis reads:
Only one man has the particular set of skills … to lead Police Squad and save the world! Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., played by Liam Neeson, follows in his father’s footsteps in THE NAKED GUN, directed by Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live, Popstar; Never Stop Never Stopping) and from producer Seth McFarlane (Ted, Family Guy).
The Naked Gun looks to keep the same comedy as the originals as, from the trailer, Drebin Jr. gets involved in all sorts of crazy scenarios.
The movie is directed by Akiva Schaffer, who is no stranger to comedies. He was part of The Lonely Island, a musical group with Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone. He directed Hot Rod, Palm Springs, Chip N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
The cast includes:
- Liam Neeson (Taken, Batman Begins) as Frank Drebin Jr.
- Pamela Anderson (Baywatch, Borat) as Beth
- Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell, Cruella) as Capt. Ed Hocken Jr.
The cast also features Kevin Durand (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), Danny Huston (Yellowstone), Liza Koshy, a youtuber and influencer, WWE’s Cody Rhodes, CCH Pounder (Avatar), and rapper Busta Rhymes.
The Naked Gun is produced by Paramount Pictures and releases Aug. 1, 2025.
