ANSON, TX – The Jones County Sheriff's Office is looking for a second flooding victim after authorities recovered a wallet, a shoe, and cellphone linked to them.
The body of Hobart Reed, 62, is believed to have been washed away during heavy flooding from a car that was found on Sept. 9 in a flooded field off FM 1226 near Anson.
On Sept, 10, a resident in the area used his drone to help rescuers scan the area.
During the search investigators recovered the body of Felix Villegas, 71, of Anson just 100 yards away from the car near a fence line.
"I believe when he opened the door, the water current pulled it open and jarred it, and the current took him," said Terry Watson a witness who first discovered the flooded vehicle.
Family members believe Reed was traveling in the car with Villegas prior to his disappearance over the weekend.
Crews have been searching the field and surrounding areas since Saturday afternoon by foot, horseback and with the assistance of a drone.
On Tuesday, several K9's were called in by authorities to help with the search.
Reed's body is still missing, but investigators announced they found his wallet, cell phone and a shoe during their search.
Sheriff Danny Jimenez believes the strong currents from a flooded California Creek carried the body of Reed away.
At this time anyone with any information regarding the disappearance of Hobart Reed is asked to contact the Anson Police Department as soon as possible.
