San Angelo Fire Fighters Assist in Battling Massive California Wildfire

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Three San Angelo Fire Fighters have decided to pack up and head down to California to assist with the California Wildfire that has burned nearly 1,000,000 acres. 

According to the San Angelo Fire Fighters Association, on September 12, the three will be heading to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to assist 15,000 other firefighters from across the nation fight the August Complex  fire that has burned 877,477 acres.

The crew will be traveling in a truck provided by the Texas Interstate Fire Mutual Aid System. TIFMAS is maintained by Texas A&M Forest Service. The program includes grants, training, qualification, and mobilization systems to make statewide use of local resources.

The fire is currently only 28 percent contained as of Monday morning.
