SAN ANGELO, TX – Former Angelo State University men's basketball standout Andres Ibarguen has signed a contract to play for the Community Gelderland team, which competes in the Dutch Basketball League (DBL).
Located in Bemmel, Gelderland, the DBL is the highest level of professional basketball played in the Netherlands.
Ibarguen, the 6-5 center from Santa Marta, Columbia, played one season for the Rams while averaging a double-double, and finishing with 14.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game as he helped lead ASU to a 20-8 overall record.
Ibarguen was also chosen as a finalist for the All-Texas Division II Team in his last season with the Rams.
Prior to his time at Angelo State, Ibarguen spent two seasons with the Trinity Valley Community College before he transferred to University of Texas in Arlington where he was forced to sit out the first six games of the season as the NCAA reviewed his eligibility.
Ibarguen would finish his season averaging 6.6 points per game as a junior at UT Arlington before transferring to Angelo State.
Ibarguen previously spent some time with the Columbia National Team back in 2016 where the team made an appearance in the South American Basketball Championship.
