Football Player Dies After Suffering Heat Stroke During Practice

 

GUTHRIE, TX — The intense heat caused the tragic passing of an 18-year-old during football practice.

According to Guthrie ISD, Rue McNiel experienced heat stroke on August 13 during practice.

According to the GoFundMe set up by family friends, Rue was transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston on August 17 for further treatment.

After spending nearly 11 days in the hospital, Rue passed away on Monday night. 

The GoFundMe has raised over $11,000 to date.
