ABILENE, TX — The investigation into the deadly shooting that killed 19-year-old Megan Kirkland continues as authorities work to piece together the events of that night.
According to KTXS, Sheriff Ricky Bishop with the Taylor County Sheriff’s confirmed that more than 80 people who were at the party have been interviewed by authorities.
Witnesses have stated that the shooting began after a fight broke out. One person fired three warning shots into the air and then someone from the opposite direction started shooting.
According to the witness, the shots fired by the second individual struck Kirkland.
Authorities are searching for more than 30 people who are believed to have been at the party.
"At this time, we do not believe that the public is in any danger," said Bishop. "We ask that anyone that was at the party on Fulwiler Rd last Saturday night/Sunday morning or knows of someone that was there, to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 325-674-1300."
