Close Encounters: Suspects Cuts Through Reporters Home Before Taking Off On Foot

SAN ANGELO, TX – At approximately 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening my roommates and I had an unknown individual quickly run through our house after letting himself in through a sliding glass back door at our rental house in College Hills.

As a few guests, my roommates, and I were watching some NBA basketball in our living room we had an unknown individual quietly let himself into our house through our backdoor and immediately took off through the house,  before leaving through a front door that lead to our driveway which opened directly onto Yale Ave.

Just as the unknown individual made it to our front door in our kitchen, myself and two others noticed that we did not immediately recognize the man and quickly yelled to him saying, "Hey buddy, who are you?"

I  immediately got up along with the house guests and quickly took off after the man as we tried to catch up to him in order to try and identify who he was.

As we took off through the front door we were unable to determine which way the man went and quickly determined the individual could have possibly went one of three ways, so the three of us split up.

I took off headed eastbound on Yale Ave hoping to catch the individual at the end of the alley that runs between Yale and A&M Ave, as our friend Sage took off after the subject directly through the alley that ran between Yale Ave and A&M Ave, and our other buddy Gabe took a right out iof our driveway onto Yale Ave before quickly making a sharp left turn running South East up A&M Ave.

After sometime Sage caught up to the suspect in the backyard of a house on A&M Ave, however at this time I was headed West bound back down the alley from Sul Ross hoping to run  into Sage in the alley after hearing some commotion from what was later determined to be his encounter with the unknown subject.

During an attempted apprehension of the subject Sage claimed that he noticed the man was carrying a baggie of some sort, and even felt the male subject had some sort of weapon on his hip, which may have been a pistol after the man claimed he was "running from the cops."

Sage quickly let the man go after telling the man he didn't want any problems and to turn himself in, however the man disregarded Sages' orders, and took off headed south / southeast towards  Sul Ross St while cutting through several properties along A&M Ave.

Some time passed as we continued searching for the male subject, however SAPD  quickly made contact with us, and immediately advised us to stand down as they continued their pursuit.

Approximately 15 to 20 or so minutes went by before an officer with the SAPD came back by our house to gather statements, confirm that nothing had been damaged or stolen, and to inform us that an arrest had been made on an individual who matched our description.
