Motorcyclist Injured Leaving Downtown at an Early Morning Hour

A single-vehicle motorcycle crash early Thursday morning sent the male driver to the hospital with incapacitating injuries. A witness told police that the driver of a motorcycle had just left a downtown bar.

The motorcyclist took the turn too fast and laid the bike down before skidding down Abe Street. Police said that the motorcycle lost control when the cycle lost traction in an accelerating turn. He was westbound of West Concho Avenue and turning south on Abe. He hit the west curb and the impact of that laid the bike over starting the skid.

“He was conscious and talking when he left the ambulance,” San Angelo Police Officer and traffic investigator Ed Hunger said of the motorcyclist. Hunger had just returned from the hospital. When the victim left the crash scene, it didn’t appear initially to be a good prognosis.

The crash happened just before 1 a.m. Thursday morning at 500 South Abe Street.
