HOUSTON, TX — A state trooper is facing criminal charges after allegedly sexually assaulted a woman while he was on duty.
According to ABC 13, on August 7th the victim and her husband were walking on I-45 near the feeder road. According to the victim, she was offered a ride by a friend but declined because there was no room for her husband.
The victim told police that when the friend turned into the Express Inn parking lot, the trooper began flashing his patrol vehicle’s lights.
The driver was then given a warning for failing to use a turn signal when entering the hotel.
The trooper, identified as Lee Boykin Jr, then allegedly told the victim to get in the passenger side of the vehicle.
The woman complied with the commanded and Boykin then drove her to a dark parking lot next to an office building. He then allegedly forced her to perform sexual assaults.
Boykin then put his hand on his service weapon and told the victim to run away.
The victim then reported the abuse to Houston police by calling from a nearby fast-food restaurant.
A brief investigation was conducted, and Boykin was charged with aggravated sexual assault. He's currently at the Harris County Jail.
DPS released a statement announcing the Texas Rangers are assisting the Houston Police Department with a criminal investigation into the incident. They also announced that Boykin’s as a commissioned officer has been withdrawn.
Boykin was ordered to surrender all department property and a process has been initiated to terminate his employment.
“The Texas Rangers are working closely with the Harris County District Attorney's Office and the Houston Police Department, which is leading this investigation, and we would refer any additional questions to their offices.”
“Boykin has been employed with the department for approximately four years and was assigned to the Texas Highway Patrol office in Katy.”
