Cancel Culture Now Going After John Wayne

SANTA ANA, CA – The Duke, John Wayne is now under attack by the 2020 cancel culture.

So Far this year America has seen statues being torn down, names of numerous buildings get changed, and flags being changed. Now some California Democrats are trying to remove the name and statue of the Duke from the John Wayne Airport.

The reasoning behind the call for change is because of an interview Wayne did back in 1971 in a Playboy Magazine. In the interview Wayne said a number of insensitive comments about African Americans and Native Americans.

"With a lot of blacks, there's quite a bit of resentment along with their dissent, and possibly rightfully so. But we can't all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks," said Wayne. "I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people."

The interview then shifted towards Native American where he stated "I don't feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them. Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves."

Orange County Officials passed an emergency resolution earlier this week demanding the airports name be changed back to Orange County Airport. Orange County Supervisor Don Wagner told the Los Angeles Times that he had just heard about the Democratic resolution and was unaware of its wording or merit.
