Deceased Identified in Morning Fatal Crash

 

Police have identified the deceased in this morning's fatality crash as 37-year-old Treva Hernandez.

According to a press release issued by the San Angelo Police Department, police responded to the intersection of S. Bryant Blvd. and S. Jackson St. at approximately 4:58 a.m., where they observed a red 2010 Freightliner semi and blue 2001 Chevy S-10 in the roadway. 

Preliminary investigation shows that the Freightliner, driven by 32-year-old Brad Matthiesen, entered the intersection on a green arrow, turning left from S. Jackson onto N. Bryant. Meanwhile, the S-10 was traveling southbound on the ouside lane of Bryant. The S-10 then entered the intersection on a red light and collided with the semi.

The San Angelo Fire Department responded to the scene for the injured.  SAFD transported the 8-month-old infant passenger, Taela Carter, of the S-10 to Shannon Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. The driver of the S-10, Treva Hernandez, of San Angelo succumbed to fatal injuries she sustained while still at the scene.  Justice of the Peace Kay Longest pronounced time of death at approximately 4:58 am. The driver of the Freightliner, who is from, Rowena was not injured in the crash. 

Due to the severity of accident, the San Angelo Police Motor Section was called to investigate the accident. The SAPD Motor Section has received video from a nearby business that captured the accident.

The accident is still under investigation and no more details are available at this time.

How chilling that just one week ago, she posted this on her facebook page: Treva Hernandez October 2 at 6:54pm · San Angelo, TX · There was a very bad wreck on sunset in front of the mall... It was an elderly lady, and jaws of life, was trying to get her out....my heart goes out for all her family members.. Go kiss ur loved ones tonight...we just aren't promised tomorrow!!
