A black Suzuki SUV failed to yield the right-of-way when turning onto Avenue N from Avenue M. As the Suzuki entered the intersection, the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank’s Ford van crashed into the Suzuki, according to police. The crash in front of La Esperanza on Avenue N happened at 6:30 Wednesday morning.
Both drivers were injured. The van driver was rushed to Shannon Medical Center complaining of neck pains. The driver of the SUV had a friend drive her to Community Medical Center with cuts and bruises.
San Angelo police said that the investigation is pending interviewing both drivers. No citation have been issued yet, pending that investigation’s outcome.
Greg Duke, Executive Director of the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank, just got off the phone with his driver at Shannon. “I care tremendously for the people working for us and have been in contact the driver. I pray for a speedy recovery not only for our driver, but for the Suzuki driver as well” he said. “We’re a vehicle down and a man down, but we’re moving forward.”
Duke said that the food bank has contingency plans for events like this and all pickups and deliveries by the food bank will resume and be on schedule.
