SAN ANGELO, TX – The Former KIXY employee "DJ Shots" was rearrested Friday after he failed to complete his probation for multiple counts of Sexual Assault of a Child.
As we reported on Aug. 29, 2017, the former KIXY DJ was arrested for multiple counts of sexual assault of a child. Here is the original story: Affidavit: KIXY-FM Radio DJ Accused of Sexually Assaulting 2 Angelo State Students
The affidavit states that the first female victim, age 16, disclosed to San Angelo police detectives that she was attending an Angelo State University event where Samuel Cantu, 24, was working. Angelo State University holds an annual "Rambunctious Week" Welcome Back Bash before the fall classes begin. Cantu's alias "DJ Shots" is listed as the host of the event. Following the Bash, one of the victims began “following Cantu on Instagram and Snapchat where they began having conversations.”
On Aug. 28, both victims agreed to be picked up by Cantu and he drove them “to an unknown location off of Knickerbocker Rd. near Lake Nasworthy,” the affidavit reads.
In addition, Cantu brought alcohol and the three began drinking, even though the two girls were minors.
Sometime thereafter, Cantu drove the victims to his residence where the three continued drinking and played "cell phone drinking games."
Following this, “[Cantu] pushed the [first] victim on to his bed,” and had sexual intercourse with her, the affidavit reads.
The second victim told investigators she witnessed Cantu having intercourse with her friend. She said that when her friend went to the bathroom, Cantu had intercourse with her as well.
After this, both victims got dressed and Cantu drove them back to their residence, the affidavit states.
Cantu admitted to having intercourse with the second victim in an interview with San Angelo Police Detective Jeremy Cannady. It was not specified in the affidavit if Cantu admitted to having sex with the first victim.
Foster Communications fired Cantu immediately upon hearing of his arrest.
Then on Sept. 26 a plea deal was made with Cantu that put him on a 10-year probation. For more on what happened in court that day check this out: Disgraced KIXY DJ Pleads Guilty to Two Counts of Sexual Assault of a Minor
The reason for the motion to revoke his probation was due to non-payment. According to the motion he failed to pay during the months of November 2018; February 2019 through May 2019; July 2019 through November 2019.
He is currently in the Tom Green County Jail with a $100,000 bond awaiting a motion to revoke hearing. After the hearing he can expect to spend the next 10 years in state prison, pay a $5,000 fine, and $826.22 in restitution.
