Deputy Constable Shot and Killed By Sheriff Deputy

 

MISSOURI CITY, TX — A Fort Bend County Deputy Constable was killed by a fellow deputy after he was mistaken for an intruder early Friday morning.

According to KCBD, Deputy Constable Caleb Rule and several deputies were searching an unoccupied home while investigating a report of a suspicious person.

When officers arrived at the scene they found the door unlocked and began to search the premises. During the search, one of the deputies mistook Rule for an intruder and opened fire.

The Fort Bend Constable Pct 4 posted the following message on Twitter:

“Today we mourn the loss of one of our own. Dep. Caleb Rule was killed in the line of duty this morning. We ask for your thoughts and prayers for his wife, children, and family. Godspeed my friend.”

The shooting is currently under investigation and the deputy who shot Rule has been placed on leave.
