Winter Storm Watch Issued for the Concho Valley with Snow and Wind Chills in the Teens

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Concho Valley and Big Country from midnight Tuesday to 6 p.m. Wednesday. 

According to the NWS, An accumulation of sleet topped by 1 to 3 inches of snow possible across the Concho Valley and northern Heartland including Sterling, Coke, Runnels, Irion, Tom Green, Concho, Coleman, and Brown counties rom late Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon.

Hazardous travel conditions will develop late Tuesday night and will continue into Wednesday.

Snow and sleet will be possible tonight through Wednesday afternoon for the Big Country and portions of the Concho Valley and Heartland where a Winter Storm Watch is in effect. Any snow accumulations will make for hazardous road conditions for motorists. The morning commute Wednesday morning could be impacted. Although accumulating snow is less likely across the I-10 corridor, there is the possibility of brief periods of wintry precipitation Wednesday which could result in light accumulations on roadways, impacting travel.

The forecast calls for rain, snow, and sleet, becoming all snow after midnight. Low around 21. Wind chill values between 9 and 19. Blustery, with a north northeast wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
