SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Christian Academy swim team members earned recognition at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, or TAPPS, Central Texas Regional Meet on January 22 in San Antonio.
The high school boys qualified for the State competition by finishing second place in the relay at Regionals. Sophomore Walker Lusk swam the first leg in 32:14. Sophomore Ethan Flores gained on the completion by posting a 27.80. The third sophomore, Joshua Mayben, edged the team into second place with a great flip turn and finished his lap in 28.51. Then junior Gray Lusk anchored the race with a 25.08 to win their heat.
Individually, Gray Lusk also qualified for State in the 50-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Freestyle events. Gray has qualified individually for State three years in a row while the free relay team is headed to State in back-to-back years.
The State meet will be at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio on February 5, 2020.
