LAS VEGAS, TX — Ty Harris has now won back to back rounds in the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas.
Since the weekend, Harris' performances have moved him all the way up from 11th to 2nd place in the worldwide tie-down roping rankings. Monday, he finished with 7.40. Tuesday, he topped it with a 7.10 and beat Riley Pruitt's 7.30 for first place.
Harris earned $26,230.77 on each of those days. He now sits in second place with his year to date earnings being $173,437.91.
There are still four rounds to go, and nearly all 15 of the tie-down roping contestants can compete for a top five finish. Shane Hanchey has a comfortable lead in first place with $209,927.69. He finished in a tie for fourth place with Marty Yates Tuesday with a 7.50 time. They both won $8,884.61.
Riley Pruitt, Marty Yates, and Haven Meged, are all within $5,700 of Harris in the 3-5 spots. Pruitt has $171,727.52, Yates has $170,969.56, and Meged has $167,744.22.
