SAN ANGELO, TX – Long time Tom Green County Clerk Elizabeth McGill announced her retirement during Tuesday's Tom Green County Commissioners Court regular meeting.
McGill has held the elected position since 2001.
"Dec. 31, 2020 I'm retiring. I'm announcing now so Marie (Chief Clerk) can run for the unexpired term." McGill said during the meeting.
In addition to serving as the clerk for the county court and the county commissioners court, a county clerk records and keeps records pertaining to the county courts, real and personal property, and personal records. Other responsibilities include recording vital statistics, issuing marriage licenses, and administering other miscellaneous licensing and recording requirements.
McGill has been active in Tom Green County Republican politics for decades.

Seems a 30-day notice for a retirement 12/31/2019 might be appropriate. But a 13-month notice seems like a long time to be announcing this retirement. Please verify this date and post confirmation or correction.
We wish Liz the best of everything in her retirement. Thank you for a job well done!
