Volunteers Needed For Veterans Day Preparations

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Veterans Day is fast approaching and the Friends of the Fairmount Cemetery Board are asking for volunteers to help place flags on the graves to honor over 1,400 servicemen and servicewomen.

The flags will be placed on Sunday, November 3rd starting at 2:00 p.m. A brief orientation will be provided at 2:00 pm at the Gazebo, located at 1120 West Ave N. Those who are interested in participating are asked to contact Martha Visney at (325) 374-7422.

Fairmount Cemetery is the resting place for veterans from both times of conflict and peace. The cemetery has veterans that represent those who served and fought in the:

  • Army of Republic of Texas
  • Buffalo Soldiers
  • Korean Conflict
  • Vietnam
  • Texas Revolution
  • Iraq, Afghanistan
  • World War I
  • World War II
  • Texas Army National Guard
  • Battle of San Jacinto
  • War with Mexico
  • Civil War
