Hundreds of People, Live Music, and Great Food Highlight Brews Ewes and Bar-B-Que Cook-Off

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Hundreds of people gathered in the "El Paseo de San Angela" Saturday for the annual Brews, Ewes, & Bar-B-Que festival. 

The event was put on by Downtown San Angelo and featured tons of teams competing for the BBQ championship. The festival also included many local vendors and craft beer made in the Eola School Restaurant and Brewery. 

The cook-off included six different competitions. Brisket, Ribs, Chicken, Beans, Lamb, and a Kids competition. 

The winner of the Brisket was "Porkin' Ain't Easy," in second place was the "TX Rebel Smokehouse," in third place was "What's Smoking BBQ?"

In the Rib competition the "Skillet Lickers" took first followed by "Porkin' Ain't Easy" and "Smoking Ashes." 

After a close race for the chicken the "TX Rebel Smokehouse" received first place. "Belly Up Beans" squeezed out second and "Smoking Ashes" ended up third. 

The "Smoking Bandit" won the bean competition. "CEO BBQ" had the second best beans and the "Skillet Lickers" placed third. 

In the Kid Competition, Brennan Hanna whipped up the best burger and won first place. 

In the Grand Finale, judges tasted the Ewes. They awarded the "Smoking Ashes" first place, "Big Foot BBQ" second, and "Little Bit of Heaven" the third best lamb. 

In the Award Ceremony, Downtown San Angelo awarded the Grand Championship to "Porkin' Ain't Easy." "Texas Rebel Smokehouse" received the Reserve Grand Champion and the "Skillet Lickers" were named third overall. The "Smokin' Bandits" received the People's Choice Award.
