Eastland QB Commits to Texas Tech Two Weeks Before Wall Matchup

EASTLAND, TX — The eighth ranked dual-threat quarterback in nation has announced where he will attend college.

Eastland High School quarterback Behren Morton committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Tuesday morning.  "I felt like I was at home in Lubbock," the junior said.  "I was born in Lubbock and I lived in Lubbock for eight years of my life. I've gotten to see football games in Lubbock and I always wanted to be a Red Raider growing up. It felt like home."

Tech beat out in-state rivals Baylor, TCU, and Texas A&M for his commitment.  RedRaiderSports.com also reported that he had offers and interest from Oklahoma State, Southern California, and Alabama.

The 6'3", 187 pound quarterback has helped lead the Eastland Mavericks to a 6-0 start and a top 10 ranking in the Class 3A DI.

Eastland is in the same district as undefeated Wall High School.  The two will face off in Wall on October 25 for a game that will most likely decide the district champion.
