A Harley motorcycle rider was hit on Knickerbocker Road at approximately 11:30 a.m. this morning. Details are sketchy because the bike rider is not at the scene.
It appears from observation that a white late model Ford Taurus hit the biker. Since the investigation is ongoing, there are no indications about who is at fault.
The crash scene is across the street from the Golden Chick on Parkview Drive, just north of the Knickerbocker Road intersection.
Update 12:11 p.m.
The Harley Motorcycle driver was southwest-bound on Knickerbocker Road, biking through the Parkview Drive intersection. According to police, the biker had a green light. The white Ford Taurus was northbound on Parkview and ran the red light, colliding with the Harley.
The biker was injured and transported to the hospital. At the scene, the biker was walking around but he appeared bruised up with some minor lacerations.
Police said that the driver of the Taurus was startled by a motorist behind him who was waiting at the same light. When the car behind him honked, the Taurus driver assumed that it was time to go, and skedaddled across the intersection into the path of the Harley.
The motorcycle driver was not wearing a helmet, according to police.
The Taurus driver was cited for running a red light.
