SAN ANGELO, TX – A strong cold front is forecast to blow through the Concho Valley overnight dropping temperatures from the mid 90s this afternoon to the mid 40s by early Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, thunderstorms are also likely tonight. A few strong to severe storms will be possible, mainly north and east of a Haskell to Cisco line, where large hail and damaging winds will be possible. Elsewhere, the main hazards from any thunderstorms include deadly lightning, strong wind gusts, small hail and locally heavy rainfall.
Showers and thunderstorms likely between 1a.m. and 4 a.m., then a chance of showers after 4 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 47. Windy, with a south wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north northeast 20 to 25 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 %. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
On Friday temperatures will reach the mid upper 50s with a 30 % chance of rain.
