SAN ANGELO, TX – It’s the first day of fall and even though San Angelo’s high for the day is 94 degrees, the city is gearing up for its fall festivities and events. Before the month ends make sure to check out everything happening in San Angelo this week.
On Wednesday, Sept. 25th, stop by the Fort Concho Commissary (702 Burgess St.) to see local historian Monte Jones in “The Burro Lady – We Make a Small Herd.” The event begins at noon and is free to the public. Sack lunches can be ordered from Mr. T’s Deli before 5:00 pm Monday by calling 325-657-4441 or attendees may bring their own lunch.
The Silver Spur Gun Show is back in town this weekend at the Foster Communications Coliseum. Doors will be open on Saturday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Admission will be $5 for adults and children under 12 come in free. Active military or NRA with ID receive $1 discount. Two for one discount will be available during the first hour both days. (Only 1 discount/special can be used at a time.)
On Saturday the ADACCV will host the 15th Annual Let it Go! Recovery Rally and Run at El Paseo de Santa Angela from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm. The event will kick off with a 70’s themed 1m/5K Fun Run and will be followed by a keynote speaker who will share their story of recovery. At the speaker hundreds of colorful balloons to celebrate everyone “letting go” of their addiction to drugs and alcohol and will include raffle and door prizes.
San Angelo Rotary Club will be hosting its annual Shrimpfest this Saturday, Sept. 28th. Join the fun at Kirby Community Park (1401 Edmund Blvd.) from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Tickets will be $20 and can be purchased at the event. FMI call 914-733-2880.
National Night Out 2019 will be coming up next week, on Tuesday, October 1st for its 36th year. The event is designed to raise awareness of crime and drug prevention in San Angelo communities. During the event San Angelo residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside their neighbors, police and first responders.
