SAN ANGELO, TX -- The City of San Angelo has hired a new spokesperson.
The City Public Information Office has officially welcomed Lorelei Day as its communications coordinator. She began her role on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019.
Day will be the City’s main writer and editor, and she will be the new face of SATV, the city’s government access channel. Other responsibilities include assisting with the management of the City’s website and social media pages, as well as other communications-related duties.
Prior to joining the City, Day spent several years as a print news reporter in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. She worked for Star Local Media and then People Newspapers, an affiliate of D Magazine. After that, Day transitioned into the marketing and social
media industry before ultimately deciding to move back to her hometown of San Angelo.
Day graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas Tech University. During her time as a reporter, she was named on the Texas Association of School Boards Media Honor Roll and worked closely with city government and school districts in her municipalities. She brings years of journalism and communications experience with her to the City of San Angelo.
“I enjoyed my time in Dallas and learned a lot while I was there,” Day said. “But, there’s just something that drew me back to San Angelo. It’s home. I’m excited to bring my skills to the table and help keep this city functioning as the place I know and love.”
The position opened following the early July leave of Anthony Wilson, former communications director. City Videographer Brian Groves added the role of Public Information Officer to his title upon Wilson’s leave. Groves will continue to handle the City’s videography needs in addition to his responsibilities as PIO.
