BROWNWOOD, TX -- A resident of Lake Brownwood pleaded guilty today for sexually assaulting a disabled woman multiple times.
According to the Brownwood Bulletin, in April of 2018, a deputy for the Brown County Sheriff responded to a residence for a disabled woman who was making an outcry for sexual assault.
She was then taken to the Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene and was examined. She then told the forensic interviewer that Jason Smith, 44, had sexually assaulted her twice. The first time, Smith asked her permission and she said yes because she was afraid of him.
Smith was then arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a disabled person. He was taken to the Brown County Jail, where deputies found various emails and text messages apologizing for the act.
On September 3, Smith went to court and excepted a plea deal offered to him by the prosecutor Elisha Bird. The plea stated that Smith will have to register as a sex offender yearly for the rest of his life and will spend 150 days on the Weekends in the Brown County Jail.
