AUSTIN, TX -- The Texas Parks and Wildlife have identified the 20-year-old that died in a fatal boat crash.
On June 26, at around 9:30 p.m. nine people were on Lake Lyndon B Johnson in a Crownline runabout-type boat and crashed.
According to KTXS, the victim has been identified as Robert Platt Jr., 20, Sugar Land. Platt was a pole vaulter for the University of Houston track team.
“I cannot express how devastated everyone in the Houston Track & Field program is. Robert was an outstanding young man, and our team was blessed to have him as a part of it for two years,” Track & Field Head Coach Leroy Burrell said. “We share our condolences with Kaddie, their family and friends, and all who knew and loved Robert.”
An autopsy was ordered and is scheduled for Thursday.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced later this week.
Texas Parks and Wildlife says there has only been one other reportable boating accident on Lake LBJ this year.
