SAN ANGELO, TX -- Two late runs sent Hurst Bell past the Central Bobcats in a District 3-6A clash at Donsky Field on Friday.
The teams held scoreless until the third inning when Central's Gunner Couch hit a loud single to center field for an RBI to make the score 1-0.
In the top of the fourth, Bell's Landry Choate, bunted and took one for the team, resulting in an RBI to make the score 1-1.
Score continued to be tied up until the bottom of the fifth when Central's Dawson Daniel hit an RBI single to make the score 2-1.
But the Raiders took the 3-2 lead thanks to a pair of RBIs in the sixth inning.
Dawson Daniel had the best day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Dylan Abbott was charged with the loss after allowing three runs on five hits against five strikeouts.
Central (15-10-1, 3-3) will welcome Fort Worth Richland to Donsky on April 2.
No. 2 Wall Stays Unbeaten Behind Dominant Pitching Duo, Scorching Hot Bats
The no. 2-ranked Wall Hawks picked up their 21st win of the season in a 26-0 rout of TLCA in five innings on Friday.
Wall picked up the win behind a combined two-hitter from pitchers Luke Young and Bryson Ballard.
Young got the start on the bump and allowed one hit against eight strikeouts in four innings of work. Ballard allowed one hit and struck out one in his one inning of relief.
The Hawks finished the day with six players tallying multiple RBIs. Caleb Heuertz and Gage Weishuhn highlighted that list.
Heuertz finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with a team-high five RBIs, a double, a triple and three runs scored. Weishuhn finished 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored, a home run, a double and four RBIs.
Wall was held to three runs in the first inning before exploding for 13 runs in the second inning. Weishuhn hit his two-run home run during the Hawks' outburst.
Wall (21-0, 6-0) hosts Brady on Tuesday. TLCA (2-12, 0-7) travels to Brady on April 5.
Eldorado Eagles Run Rule Christoval in Renewal of 277 Rivalry
Kaden Gonzales for the Eagles started the first inning out decent. He struck out one and had two ground outs.
The first inning for the Eagles started out great. They were able to get three runs in off of multiple steals that led to base hits to bring them home.
The Cougars struggled hitting the ball throughout the game. They were only able to get one person on base in the second inning. The Eagles on the other hand were able to score two more runs after Reyes hit a grounder to bring in a runner home and then he stole home.
Gonzales went three up three down in the third inning, and Covarrubiaz scored a run to bring the lead to 6-0. The Eagles made a great double play in the fourth inning that helped them continue the shutout to help them gain a 8-0 lead going into the fifth inning.
The game finally ended after a complete shutout by Gonzales and a triple that sent two runners home for Reyes.
Reyes went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
Lake View Stymied by Sweetwater on the Road
The Lake View Chiefs were held in check by Sweetwater for a 10-2 loss in District 5-4A on Friday.
The Chiefs could manage just three hits against Sweetwater.
Jaden Haynes drove in the only two runs for the Chiefs. He would finish the day 1-for-2 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and a double. Matthew Chappa and Ryan Avalos picked up Lake View's other two hits.
Haynes also took the loss on the bump for Lake View after surrendering four runs on four hits in four innings.
Lake View (7-14, 1-2) hosts Big Spring on April 2.
Ozona Holds off Late Push by McCamey
The Ozona Lions hosted the McCamey Badgers in a game where the Badgers almost made a last second push to take the game but fell short.
The first few innings where pretty stale with most players either striking out or making routine plays in the infield. The score was finally broken in the second inning when McCamey had an error that brought in Jacob Childress. They kept this momentum going into the third inning with four Lions scoring to bring the lead to 6-0.
McCamey was still not able to get things going in the fourth inning and it only hurt them as their deficit grew to 7-0. All of a sudden in the fifth inning the Badgers came alive. They scored their first run with one out, but this run led to two more after it as the Badgers attempted the comeback with the score 7-3.
Ozona was able to answer the three runs scored with two of their own, one by Justin Yeager and one by Jaden Fay. This increased their lead to 9-3.
The Badgers never gave up as they scored two run in the top of the 7th to try and force extra innings, but the push was not enough as they lost 9-5.
Zachary Talamantez went 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs.
Alec Lara picked up the win after going 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on nine hits against two strikeouts.
