SAN ANGELO, TX - Over 100 golfers turned out for the David Hodges Pro-Am Golf Tournament to benefit the YMCA's Y scholarship program on Monday afternoon.
Enjoying a round of golf was one thing, but knowing where the proceeds were headed to benefit families in need of childcare was the most fulfilling element of the tournament.
"As much as they love golf," said YMCA CEO A.J. Moore. "There's an incentive to do something for the community and they know that the proceeds of this will benefit the YMCA scholarship program.

Moore who's been a part of the YMCA for about 20 years now says San Angelo holds a special place in its heart for benefits like this.
"There are so many great organizations that are non-profits that are not in it for the money, they're it to serve the community," said Moore. "I think that's what brought me out of coaching into this because I think that's where everyone needs to be in having that place in their heart to help people in need."
According to Moore the YMCA is also in the process of raising $6 million for a new preschool and interactive center located off college hills and next to Unidad park.
