SAN ANGELO, TX – When it comes to sports in West Texas, it’s high school football that immediately comes to mind for most, but over the years San Angelo has made quite a name for itself among the disc golf community.
"We are one of the top 5 in the state and we have 223 players this weekend,” said San Angelo disc golf creator Carl Wamsley regarding this weekend’s 17th annual Crush on the Concho Tournament.

According to Wamsley the popularity of disc golf has grown tremendously over the years in San Angelo which has attracted professional and amateur players from all over the country to stop in San Angelo en route to other national tournaments in Texas.
“We have them coming from California as part of the tour circuit through Nevada then they stop here, and then they’re on there way to Waco, Houston, and other large tournaments.”
