SAN ANGELO, TX -- Record cold temperatures are possible across the Concho Valley and Big Country Monday night.
According to the National Weather Service Office in San Angelo, temperatures will remain below freezing across much of West Central Texas this evening and are expected to fall to lows of 15 to 19 degrees early Tuesday morning.
Wind chills of 9 to 12 are expected by sunrise Tuesday as north winds of 10 to 15 mph this evening become northeast 5 mph or less.
Continue to protect outside pets, vulnerable livestock, exposed water pipes, and cold-sensitive plants. Temperatures should rise above freezing around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The record low for tomorrow morning at Abilene is 16 degrees and 18 degrees at San Angelo, with the current forecast low at both Abilene and San Angelo at 17 degrees.
Warmer conditions are forecast on Tuesday but will still be well below seasonal normals. Highs will generally be in the 40s, under partly cloudy skies.
