ABILENE, TX -- The Eden Bulldog's first trip to the regional tournament since 1999 was short-lived, as they fell 58-25 to no. 9 Jayton in the Class 1A Region II semifinals at Abilene Christian University's Moody Coliseum.
The Jaybirds played off the Bulldogs mistakes and intercepted the ball multiple times to keep a lead against the bulldogs.
Eden started out in a zone defense but it wasn’t enough as the Jayton Jaybirds were able to drive to basket to score.
The Bulldogs were able to keep the score close in the first quarter ending the score 8-5
The Bulldogs still continue to defend the basket in a zone defense but the Jaybirds continued to pass the ball around for the open spot to score.
The Jaybirds intercepted the ball to drive it down the court to score and extend their lead.
Arron Hernandez hit two three pointers for the Jaybirds out scoring Bulldogs 14-5 to move ahead to 22-10 at halftime.
Jayton continued to put pressure on the Bulldogs in a man defense, but Eden's Anthony Moya picked up the Bulldog offense with two consecutive threes.
However the Jaybirds continued to keep their lead, ending the third quarter ahead 38-18.
On multiple occasions, the Jaybirds would out-rebound the Bulldogs, drive the ball back down the court to score ended the fourth quarter 25-58.
Tye Scogin was not afraid to attack the glass, as he was leading scorer with nine points in the fourth quarter and 15 points overall for the Jaybirds.
Arron Hernandez also hit double figures for the Jaybirds with 17 points.
