SAN ANGELO, TX – One of the biggest moons of 2019 will visible Monday night and Tuesday morning.
The Super Snow Moon will be the most visible at 8:53 a.m. It will appear seven percent bigger than an ordinary moon.
The term Super moon came about at in 1979 and it is used by astronomers to describe these full moons that look larger than they really are. According to NASA, the revolution of the Moon around the Earth is the main factor in the super moons. The closer the moon is, the bigger it appears. The farther away the moon is the smaller it appears, and astronomers describe these as micro moons. Super moons are sometimes seen as much as 14 percent bigger than a micro moon.
Every month, the moon has a different name, and this month the moon is called a snow moon. According to the Farmer's Almanac, the moon in February is called the snow moon due to the snowfall across the nation is at it's highest.
