GEORGETOWN, TX-- The Central Lady Cats maintained their unbeaten record by going 1-0-2 at the Governor's Cup showcase.
In staying undefeated, the Lady Cat defense, led by goalkeeper Megan White, also continued their stingy ways by not allowing a goal during the showcase. Central has not allowed a goal in six consecutive matches.
Central opened the tournament with a pair of scoreless draws against Deer Park and Cedar Park. The Lady Cats finished off the tournament with a 2-0 win over Round Rock Westwood.
Addi Bonaventure and Averi Handy each had a goal and an assist in the win.
Central (3-0-3) will have their home opener at Old Bobcat Stadium on Jan. 18 against Odessa High.
Maidens Finish Panther Cup With Back-to-Back Wins
After a thrilling 3-3 draw and a 3-0 loss to open the Panther Cup in Princeton, the Lake View Maidens bounced back with a pair of wins to finish the tournament on a high note.
Lake View peppered Sulphur Springs for a 3-0 win on Friday. They followed that up with a 1-0 win over South Garland to close the tournament on Saturday.
Alize Garfias and Mallory Govea each had three of Lake View's seven goals in the tournament. Ariana Rangel had four assists for the Maidens.
Goalkeeper Jacqui Ortiz had a busy weekend between the posts by saving 80 shots for Lake View.
Lake View (2-2-1) will look to keep that momentum on the road at Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
Central Boys Bounce Back to Finish Governor's Cup with Win
The Central Bobcat soccer team found good competition at the Governor's Cup in Georgetown over the weekend.
Central lost to Southlake Carrol 6-0 to start the tournament before losing 2-0 to Round Rock Westwood in their second game of the tournament.
The Bobcats finished the tournament on a high note with a 2-0 win over Alvin Shadow Creek.
Central (1-4) will host Odessa Permian on Jan. 18 for their first home match of the season.
