Countdown to First Freeze

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The first freeze of the season will occur this weekend according to forecasters with the National Weather Service Office in San Angelo. 

While Saturday and Veteran's Day will remain cool and dry, overnight temperatures will drop below 40 degrees. 

Freezing temperatures will begin tonight in the Big Country north of Abilene and the I-20 corridor.  

Freezing temperatures are possible tonight across parts of the area, mainly north of I-20.

A Freeze Warning has been issued for Haskell, Throckmorton, Fisher, Jones and Shackelford counties.

There is a chance for a wintry mix of precipitation Sunday night into Monday morning north of I-20. No significant accumulations are expected at this time.

The forecast for the Concho Valley calls for a 50 percent chance of rain Sunday night into Monday. 

The first freeze in the San Angelo area should occur Monday night with a forecast low temperature of 29 degrees. 

Residents are advised to wrap outside pipes and faucets and bring sensitive plants inside. 

Make sure outside pets and livestock have access to plenty of food and water and shelter.
