SAN ANGELO, TX-- Despite an 0-8 record in District 5-4A, the Lake View Maidens have something to hang their hats on with the announcement of All-District selections.
The Maidens placed seven athletes on the All-District teams for 5-4A, including a sweep of the academic honors.
Lake View's Leila Ramirez was the only Maiden to garner first team honors. Ramirez was consistent in all phases of the game for Lake View by posting a team-high 69 digs, 59 assists and 34 kills in district play. She was the only one with a season triple-double for the Maidens.
The only Maiden selected to the second team was Shae Gonzales. She earned the honor by being an offensive and defensive standout in 2018. Gonzales had a team-high 46 kills in district to go with 43 digs.
Two Maidens were named to the honorable mention team in Taylor Spencer and Alize Grafias.
Spencer was tied for second on the team with 65 digs in district play. She also led the team in assists with 84 in district play. Grafias posted 38 digs and 36 kills for Lake View in district play.
Along with Grafias, Gonzales and Spencer, three other Maidens were named to the Academic All-District Team. Chloe Gonzales, Logan Price and Ellie Vela were the other three Maidens. In order to be considered for Academic All-District, athletes had to have an overall grade of 90 percent or above.
